First Lego LeagueTournament

A team of ten Year 6 children competed in West Cumbria’s First Lego League Tournament today.  After some frustrating robot programming sessions, everyone was pleased with the team’s best score of 66 points in the robotic game. They worked extremely hard on all three elements of the competition and had great fun.

Well done ‘Team Paddle’!

A Practically Perfect Trip to Mary Poppins

On 14th September I was lucky enough to join the Year 2 and 3 classes on their trip to
Newcastle Theatre Royal to watch a production of Mary Poppins.

What an amazing time we had! We sang along to all the great songs, and tapped our feet to the tap dancing sweeps. As always the Paddle children were impeccably behaved and a pleasure to be with.

A Feast Fit for a Queen

To celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Lyn Richardson our Kitchen Manager and her team put a on fabulous feast for our children and staff.

We had a wonderful roast beef dinner served with new and roast potatoes, season vegetables, yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. We each enjoyed not one, not two, but three puddings!!! A custard cream biscuit, scones with cream and jam and victoria sponge all washed down with a summer fruit punch.

It certainly was a feast fit for a queen!

PCA Charity Auction

Our Year 6 children have been writing to various companies and individuals to secure ‘Lots’ for the PCA Charity Auction to be held on Thursday 5th May.

We have had lots of generous donations to date from parents, local businesses and the local community.  This morning we received a really exciting donation from Adele’s record company XL Recordings. Erin in Year 6 had contacted Adele and she has donated an original plaque awarded to her, in person, by MTV in 2011 in recognition of in excess of 20,000 plays of ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by MTV.  Well done Erin!

We hope you can attend our auction to see and bid on some of these great Lots on 5th May

Good Luck to Mr D!

The last day of term in Paddle Academy is always an exciting one, and today was just that! But as well as being an exciting and happy day, today was also tinged with sadness.  Mr D (our Year 6 teacher and Deputy Headteacher) is leaving us for two terms to go to Lazonby Primary School as Acting Headteacher.  In Assembly this morning all the staff gave him presents to help him in his new role, children presented him with cards and hugs, and we sang and danced for him.

“Good Luck Mr D” from the Paddle Family.
